Aero India 2023: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on January 27 passed an order to ban the sale of non-vegetarian food within a 10 km radius of Yelahanka Air Force Station in view of the Aero India show.

As per the order, meat stalls, hotels and non-vegetarian restaurants will be closed from January 30 to February 20.

The Aero India Show will be held from February 13-17.

“It is for the general public and the owners of non-vegetarian meat stalls, hotels and restaurants to close all meat/chicken/fish shops and prohibit serving/selling non-vegetarian dishes within a 10 km radius of Yelahanka Air Force Station from January 30 to February 20,” the BBMP order states.

Any violation of this will attract punishment under the BBMP-2020 Act and rule 91 of the Indian Aircraft Rules, 1937, it said.

BBMP officials told ANI that the decision was made because non-veg food thrown in public places attracts a lot of scavengers, especially kites, which can cause airborne mishaps.

Aero India on its website stated that a total of 731 exhibitors have registered, out of which 633 are Indian and 98 are foreigners. At the beginning of 2021, delegates from more than 55 countries and more than 540 exhibitors participated.

The biennial airshow would be opened by Prime Minister Modi. Being one of the leading aerospace exhibitions, Aero India has held 13 successful editions in Bangalore since 1996.

The five-day event will combine a major trade exhibition for the aerospace and defense industries, as well as an IAF airshow. In addition to world leaders and major investors in the aerospace industry, the fair will also feature expert groups from around the world.

Aero India will provide a unique opportunity for the exchange of information, ideas and new developments in the aviation industry. Apart from giving a boost to the domestic aviation industry, it would further the cause of Make in India.
