While emphasizing the adoption of the cleaning process for flights, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday instructed railway officials to change the cleaning system on Vande Bharat Express trains. The development came after several media reports highlighted the problem of litter on the Vande Bharat trains.

The Union Minister asked for the cooperation of the people to keep our trains clean. Under the new cleaning system, a person will move a garbage bag through the train cars, asking passengers to throw garbage around them into the bag.

“The cleaning system for #VandeBharat trains has been changed. Your cooperation is expected,” the minister said.

Citizens called on the Union Railway Minister to take action after several photos went viral on social media showing food parcels and other rubbish strewn inside the concourse of the Vande Bharat Express train after arriving to his destiny.

Earlier, similar problems were reported on the newly opened Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express train in which plates, glasses and other rubbish were seen lying around. Railway officials said that despite cleaning staff doing their job at regular intervals, the train was found to be dirty when it reached its destination, Visakhapatnam.

The Railway repeatedly asks passengers to keep the prestigious trains clean and throw their rubbish into the dustbins.

Currently, eight Vande Bharat Express trains are running in the country and the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam was recently inaugurated. Apart from this, Express trains run between New Delhi-Varanasi, New Delhi-Katra, Gandhinagar Capital-Mumbai, New Delhi-Amb Andaura, Chennai-Mysuru, Bilaspur-Nagpur and Howrah-New Jalpaiguri.

“Vande Bharat is an outstanding train. It can travel from 0 to 100 km in 52 seconds, while other trains in the world take 54 to 60 seconds. Vande Bharat’s designs are even better than an airplane. It can provide the most comfortable travel experience,” Union Minister Ashwini Vishnaw said of the Vande Bharat Express trains.
