G20: Startup 20 kickoff meeting will kick off in Hyderabad from today

The two-day kickoff meeting of the Startup 20 Engagement Group, to be held under the chairmanship of India’s G20, will kick off in Hyderabad from Saturday.

As part of India’s G20 Presidency, various meetings and programs will be held at various locations across the country. The G20 is a grouping of developed and developing countries. Startup 20 is an important engagement group in terms of the need to generate more entrepreneurs for a progressive economy.

With its rich history of innovation culture, Hyderabad stands out as a perfect choice for the location of the creation ceremony of the G20 Startup 20 participation group, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant told PTI.

Startup 20 activities will consist of five events including kickoff, summit and three other interim events in different parts of India. The Startup 20 Summit will be held at Gurugram starting on July 3.

Startup 20 is based on three different pillars including foundation and alliance, finance and inclusion, and sustainability, said Anurag Jain, Secretary of the Department of Domestic Trade and Industry Promotion.

The main goal of Startup 20 is to create an enabling environment for startups by enhancing synergies between startups, companies, investors, innovation agencies, and other key ecosystem stakeholders.

“The group will also bridge the knowledge gap between the startup ecosystems of G20 member countries and emerging economies through partnerships with enablers such as incubators and government agencies,” said Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, President of Startup20 India. He also added that the group aims to bridge the knowledge gap in member countries’ start-up ecosystem economies, which will help formulate start-up-friendly policies by the government.

The grouping will also provide a common platform for start-ups from G20 member countries to discuss various issues related to their establishment and operation. In addition to the discussion, they will also formulate actionable guidance in the form of building facilitator capacities, identifying funding gaps, enhancing employment opportunities, achieving SDG targets and climate resilience, etc. Ultimately this will help in the development of an inclusive environment. ecosystem for startups.
