Traffic on the Chamba-Bharmour National Highway was severely affected on Sunday morning after a bridge collapsed as a result of a landslide in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred in the Loona area of ​​Bharmour village on the outskirts of the district.

According to a statement from the Chamba District Emergency Operations Center (DEOC), the bridge has completely collapsed and the Chamba to Bharmour road (NH-154A) has been cut off. DEOC officials stated, “A landslide occurred in Loona Bharmour District Chamba. In the incident, the bridge completely collapsed and (NH-154 A) Chamba to Bharmour broke completely.”

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, DEOC officials added. The area has been cordoned off and rescue operations are underway. Authorities are currently working to clear the road and assess the damage.

According to Chamba Deputy Commissioner DC Rana, a 20-meter-long bridge on National Highway 154-A, connecting Bharmour subdivision (a tribal area) with Chamba, was interrupted after an incident. “Road connectivity to the entire area has been affected,” Rana said.

Earlier on Friday night, two vehicles were damaged after the Choli Bridge collapsed in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.

“A bridge collapse incident occurred at Choli Bridge near Holi Chamba district at around 7:30 p.m. In this incident, the bridge completely collapsed and due to this two vehicles, one car and one dump truck, they fell,” DEOC officials said.
